DFB-Pokal: Borussia travel to Stuttgart

After Sunday’s draw in Köln, the Foals will face VfB Stuttgart away in the DFB-Pokal round of 16 (2nd/3rd February).

Borussia will face newly-promoted Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart in the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal. Olympic champion ski jumper Sven Hannawald drew the fixtures under the guidance of DFB vice-president Peter Frymuth in Köln. The matches will take place on 2nd and 3rd February. Exact dates and times will be announced in the next ten to twelve days.

The Foals qualified for the last 16 with big wins over FC Oberneuland (8-0) and SV Elversberg (5-0). Stuttgart beat Hansa Rostock 1-0 away before another 1-0 win against SC Freiburg in the round of 32. This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides in the DFB-Pokal and the Foals have won all three fixtures so far. In 1981/82, Borussia were 2-0 winners in the third round, before winning 4-2 at home in the 2003/04 round of 16. Most recently, Gladbach emerged victorious in the 2016/17 second round, beating Stuttgart 2-0 again.
