Match facts ahead of #VfBBMG

Everything worth knowing ahead of the Foals’ DFB-Pokal match away at VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday night (20:45 CET).

  • Under the current Coronavirus measures being enforced by the federal and state governments, all professional sporting events must take place behind closed doors. 

Head-to-head record:

  • This will be the fourth meeting between VfB and Borussia in the DFB-Pokal.
  • The Foals can boast a perfect record so far, winning each of the three previous clashes.
  • Overall, Stuttgart and Gladbach have faced off 102 times in all competitions. The Swabians have the edge, having won 40 matches, while Borussia have managed 33 victories (D29).
  • Both teams drew 2-2 in the Mercedes-Benz Arena just over two weeks ago in the Bundesliga.

Statistics:

  • Borussia have won the DFB-Pokal on three occasions: 1960, 1973 and 1995, also finishing runners-up twice.
  • The Foals hammered fourth-tier side FC Oberneuland 8-0 in the first round, before knocking out fellow Regionalliga outfit SV Elversberg 5-0 in round two.
  • Patrick Herrmann is Gladbach’s top scorer in the Pokal this season with three goals.
  • VfB reached this stage thanks to 1-0 wins over Hansa Rostock and SC Freiburg. Both of their goals came in the first half.
  • VfB lost in the round of 16 last season to Bayer 04 Leverkusen (2-1).

Foals turn game around to win 3-1 in Wolfsburg

In the final game of Matchday 28 in the Bundesliga, the Foals came back from 1-0 down at half time to win 3-1 at VfL Wolfsburg courtesy of goals from Ko Itakura, Nathan Ngoumou and Rocco Reitz.
