Convincing friendly win for Ginter & Germany

Germany’s final friendly before EURO 2020 saw them hammer Latvia 7-1. Matthias Ginter was the only Foal in the squad to appear.

Die Mannschaft ended their preparations for EURO 2020 by winning 7-1 against Latvia. While Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus were both unused substitutes, Matthias Ginter played the full 90 minutes on the right-hand side of a back three.

The home side were 5-0 up at the break through goals from Robin Gosens (19’), Ilkay Gündogan (21’), Thomas Müller (27’), Serge Gnabry (45’) and an own goal from Latvia goalkeeper Roberts Ozols (39’). Timo Werner (50’) and Leroy Sané (76’) added second-half goals, while Aleksejs Saveljevs grabbed a consolation for Latvia (75’).

Germany will now head to their base for the tournament in Herzogenaurach. Their first group game is on Tuesday, 15th June against France in Munich (21:00 CEST). France, including Borussia’s Marcus Thuram, play Bulgaria in their final friendly in Paris this evening (21:10 CEST).
