Looking for Borussia’s Player of the Month for May

Breel Embolo, Jonas Hofmann and Alassane Plea are all in the running to be voted as Borussia’s Player of the Month for May, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. Fans can vote for their favourite in the FohlenApp now.

The search is on for Borussia’s Player of the Month in May! Breel Embolo, Jonas Hofmann and Alassane Plea are all nominated for the award. The Foals played three Bundesliga games in May, with Jonas Hofmann and Alassane Plea each picking up a Man of the Match award, presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. Breel Embolo has also been nominated due to his strong performances in the last month.

Fans will have a chance to vote for their favourite in the FohlenApp until 23:59 CEST on Thursday, 19th May.

Jonas Hofmann: The 29-year-old was twice voted as Borussia’s Man of the Match in May. He showcased his clinical finishing in the 3-1 win against Leipzig, scoring with both of his shots on goal. It was Hofmann’s fifth career brace in the Bundesliga, with all five coming in home games for the Foals. ‘Hoffi’ then scored his sixth brace in the final game of the season against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (5-1). The Germany international made it 3-1 just before half-time, before netted Borussia’s fifth and final goal of the day. Hofmann ended the 2021/22 Bundesliga season on 12 goals, setting a new personal best. “I’m happy that I managed to score so many goals this season,” he said.

Alassane Plea: The Frenchman was voted Man of the Match with 34% of all votes following the 1-1 draw with Frankfurt on the penultimate matchday. Plea scored his ninth goal of the season against Eintracht, slotting home after a pass from Stefan Lainer. He then netted his tenth goal of the campaign against Hoffenheim on the final day, showcasing his nerves from the penalty spot.

Breel Embolo: The Swiss international delivered a series of strong performances in May. He set up a goal in the 3-1 win against Leipzig as well as the 5-1 triumph over Hoffenheim, scoring once himself. The 25-year-old was involved in eight goals in the last eight matches of the season (6 goals, 2 assists), and ended the 2021/22 Bundesliga campaign with nine goals and four assists.

Jonas Hofmann scored twice and provided one assist in the 5-1 win against Hoffenheim on the final matchday of the season.
