Summer schedule announced: training to begin on 26th June, season opening 23rd/24th July

The summer schedule ahead of the 2022/23 season has been announced. The Foals will kick off their pre-season training on 26th June at BORUSSIA-PARK.

Borussia Mönchengladbach will begin their preparations for the 2022/23 season on 26th June. The first pre-season friendly will take place on 1st July against Rot-Weiss Essen. There is also a training camp scheduled from 3rd-10th July in Rottach-Egern, a town on Lake Tegernsee. During the camp, the team will be based at the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt. On 23rd July, The Foals will face Spanish side Real Sociedad at BORUSSIA-PARK in a pre-season friendly. The season opening will take place the following day, presented by our main sponsor flatexDEGIRO AG. In addition, Jünter Day will take place in an exclusive area for Borussia’s young members.

After two years without an official season opening due to the coronavirus pandemic, the club is delighted to be able to celebrate the season opening with the fans this year. 

Here are all the important dates for the diary this summer:

  • Sunday, 26th June: First training session at BORUSSIA-PARK (11:00 CEST)
  • Friday, 1st July: Pre-season friendly at Rot-Weiss Essen (19:00 CEST)
  • Sunday, 10th July: Pre-season friendly against 1860 München (Rottach-Egern, 14:00 CEST)
  • Saturday, 16th July: Pre-season friendly at Standard Liège (14:00 CEST)
  • Saturday, 23rd July: Pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad (BORUSSIA-PARK, 15:30 CEST)
  • Sunday, 24th July: Official season opening and Jünter Day at BORUSSIA-PARK (from 11:00 CEST)
  • Friday, 29th – Monday, 31st July: DFB-Pokal first round
  • Friday, 5th – Monday, 7th August: Bundesliga matchday 1

Borussia drew 1-1 away at 1. FC Heidenheim on Matchday 26 of the Bundesliga. Robin Hack’s early opener was cancelled out by Eren Dinkci in the second half.
