Lars Stindl now among Borussia’s top 10 all-time goalscorers

Borussia’s captain, Lars Stindl, is now 10th on the club’s all-time top goalscorer charts after finding the net against TSG Hoffenheim (5-1) on the final matchday.

His goal on the final day won’t go down in the history books as a stunner, but, of course, they all count. Stindl was the quickest to react when Oliver Baumann could only parry Alassane Plea’s shot back out into the box. He stabbed home to make it 1-1 for the Foals.

Kohn overtaken, Mill in his sights

Even though the goal itself wasn’t anything special, it was still a historic one for Borussia’s captain. It was his 74th goal in all competitions for the club, meaning he has overtaken Ulrich Kohn, who he had drawn level with after scoring a header in the 3-3 draw at SC Freiburg.

Stindl became Borussia’s top goalscorer since 2000 with his brace against Arminia Bielefeld on matchday 4 this season (3-1 win). He needs seven more goals to equal Frank Mill in ninth place.

The 33-year-old German will also now be looking to get among the club’s top 10 all-time goalscorers in the Bundesliga. He is currently in 13th place on 54 goals and has Christian Hochstätter (55 goals, 12th), Raffael (57 goals, 11th) and Wilfried Hannes (58 goals, 10th) in his sights.

Borussia’s top 10 goalscorers in all competitions:

  • 10th: Lars Stindl – 74 goals
  • 9th: Frank Mill – 81 goals
  • 8th: Hans-Günter Bruns – 85 goals
  • 7th: Bernd Rupp – 95 goals
  • 6th: Uwe Rahn – 111 goals
  • 5th: Hans-Jörg Criens – 117 goals
  • 4th: Allan Simonsen – 117 goals (in fewer games than Criens)
  • 3rd: Günter Netzer – 129 goals
  • 2nd: Herbert Laumen – 133 goals
  • 1st: Jupp Heynckes – 286 goals
