Match facts ahead of #SVOBMG

Here is everything you need to know ahead of our first round cup clash against SV Oberachern on Sunday (15:30 CEST).

Fan Information

  • As the capacity of Oberachern’s Waldseestadion is too small, the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga team will move to the Dreisamstadion, the former home of SC Freiburg, for the cup game (Photo: imago / Sports Press).
  • Around 13,000 tickets have been sold so far. The hosts expect roughly 15,000 spectators for the game.
  • Gladbach have sold almost 3,000 tickets. Please note that admission to the Dreisamstadion is only possible with a printed ticket. E-tickets cannot be scanned there! There will be a ticket office for visiting fans on the day of the game, where the remainder of tickets can be purchased.

Statistics

  • The last time the Foals lost in the first round of the cup was nine years ago. Back then, it was goalless after 120 minutes and Darmstadt 98 came out on top in the penalty shootout. Since then, Gladbach have generally progressed with ease in the first round; a year ago thanks to a 1-0 victory over Kaiserslautern, then in the third division.
  • In the 2013/14 season, head coach Daniel Farke took charge of his only DFB-Pokal match to date. Back then, he coached SV Lippstadt against heavy favourites Bayer Leverkusen, who triumphed 6-1 in the end.
  • Gladbach have won the cup three times – the last time coming in 1995. Since then, the club has made a further two appearances in the final.
  • In last season’s tournament, the Foals were knocked out in the round of 16 following a 3-0 defeat to Hannover 96.
  • SV Oberachern are one of six newcomers to the cup. They qualified for the Pokal for the first time as winners of the South Baden Cup. In the final, Oberachern beat DJK Donaueschingen 2-0.
  • Last season, Oberachern owed their league survival to their brilliant home form, earning almost twice as many points at the Waldseestadion (33) as they did away (18). As already mentioned, the cup game will not take place there, but at Freiburg’s Dreisamstadion.

Referee

  • The referee team will be appointed by the DFB at short notice.
