Alassane Plea extends with Borussia until 2025

Borussia Mönchengladbach have agreed to extend Alassane Plea’s contract with the Foals by two years until 30th June 2025, including an option for an additional year.

“Alassane is now going into his fifth season with us,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. “The fact that he has been our top scorer across the past four seasons shows how valuable he is to the team. With his technical ability, his quality finishing and his versatility in attack, he is also an important element for the kind of football we want to play. We’re delighted that Alassane is convinced by our vision and sees his future at Borussia.” Plea joined the Foals from OGC Nice in summer 2018 and has gone on to score 47 goals and provide 30 assists in 143 competitive appearances.

He quickly became a first-team regular at the club, featuring in all 34 Bundesliga games in his first season, netting twelve times. He also bagged a hat-trick in his debut match, an 11-1 first-round DFB-Pokal win over BSC Hastedt. The Frenchman scored 10 goals in 27 Bundesliga games in the following campaign, also featuring in five Europa League games and one DFB-Pokal tie. Plea shone in the Champions League in particular during 2020/21, scoring five times in eight European matches. He also found the target six times in 29 Bundesliga appearances, as well as scoring once in his two DFB-Pokal games. The forward was involved in 30 of our Bundesliga fixtures last season, netting ten goals, and also played in three DFB-Pokal games.
