Vote for Borussia’s player of the month for March

Jonas Hofmann, Tobias Sippel, Florian Neuhaus and Manu Koné have been nominated for this month’s player of the month award, which is presented by Cichon Personalmanagement. Fans can vote for their favourite player in the FohlenApp!

Koné was named player of the match in the home game against Freiburg with just under a quarter of the votes. Tobi Sippel was player of the match against Leipzig with 41 percent of the votes. In the most recent match against Bremen at home Hofmann was the winner with 28.75 percent of the votes, just ahead of Florian Neuhaus (28.5 percent), who has also been nominated for player of the month. The 26-year-old has shown improving form recently and scored against Werder to make it 2-1. Voting is open now in the FohlenApp and fans have until 23:59 CET on Thursday to vote for their winner.

Jonas Hofmann: After two unremarkable performances against Freiburg and Leipzig, Hofmann was able to show his quality as a playmaker in attack for Borussia against Bremen. Together with Neuhaus, he was a key player in the game: Hofmann had the fourth most shots on goal (4) and made the most crosses in the game (5). The 30-year-old also made the most sprints (43), and in the 48th minute, “Hoffi” back-heeled the ball to Marcus Thuram, who drove forward a few yards before scoring from 16 yards out to make it 1-0. It was Hofmann’s eighth assist of the season, and he now has 16 goal involvements in the Bundesliga, with no player in the league having made as many key passes as him (78).

Tobias Sippel: In the match against Freiburg, Sippel had a flawless performance and was instrumental in Borussia keeping a third clean sheet in the Bundesliga this season. His best moment was in the 49th minute, when he made a great diving save to keep out Sallai’s shot for Freiburg from close range. Against Leipzig, Sippel made a few great saves despite the 3-0 defeat. In the first half, he saved a shot from Werner over the crossbar, and in the 80th minute he showed good reactions against the substitute Poulsen and tipped the ball over the bar again. Against Werder Bremen, Sippel was on the bench since regular keeper Omlin was back.

Manu Koné: Against SCF, Koné showed his high level of commitment and was strong in the tackle. The Frenchman covered 10.7 kilometres and had a good tackle percentage of 63.6 percent, the third best in the match. Koné also had a pass completion rate of 91.9 percent. He was heavily involved against Bremen as a passing option, and was second behind teammate Nico Elvedi in touches (74) and pass completion (87.9 percent).

Florian Neuhaus: March was a successful month for Florian Neuhaus. After regularly being used as a substitute from the league restart against Leverkusen up to the Freiburg game, Neuhaus celebrated his comeback in the starting eleven in Leipzig after a six month break. In the home match against Werder, Neuhaus was in the starting line-up again and was heavily involved in Borussia’s attacking play. In the second half, Neuhaus topped off his performance with his first goal of the season: after Werder’s goalkeeper Zetterer saved a shot from Stindl, the ball came to the feet of Neuhaus, who hit it with power into the bottom left corner from 17 yards. Neuhaus also showed his commitment and covered 11.5 kilometres, more than any other player in the game.
