Borussia loan Keanan Bennetts to Ipswich Town

Keanan Bennetts will join English League One side Ipswich Town until the end of the season.

“The most important thing for Keanan is getting minutes under his belt. For this reason, we’ve made the joint decision to loan him out to Ipswich Town in his home country of England until the end of the season,” said Borussia’s sporting director, Max Eberl.

The attacker joined Borussia from Tottenham Hotspur aged 19 in the summer of 2018, where the youngster spent his youth career. The young Englishman has suffered a number of injuries since moving to VfL, but he has always bounced back from these. Because of this, it was almost two years until Bennetts made his debut for the Foals in June earlier this year. In matchday 32 of last season, the winger replaced captain Lars Stindl in the 90th minute of Borussia’s 3-0 home victory against VfL Wolfsburg, getting his first taste of elite football in Germany’s top league. This was his first and only appearance for the first team to date.

The 21-year-old has played in a total of 26 Regionalliga West matches for Borussia’s U23s. He made 22 appearances in his first season with VfL’s youth, scoring one goal. The Englishman made two appearances last season and in this season, also scoring once in the former. Bennetts’ contract with Borussia runs until June 2022.
