Match facts ahead of #BMGDSC

Everything you need to know ahead of the Foals’ home game against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday evening (18:00 CEST).

Spectators

  • Under the current Coronavirus measures being enforced by the federal and state governments, all professional sporting events must take place behind closed doors.

Head-to-head record

  • This will be the 32nd meeting between Borussia and Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga. The Foals have the better record, winning 20 of the 31 clashes to date. Arminia have recorded just five wins and the sides have shared the points on six occasions.
  • Gladbach’s top-flight record against Arminia is better than against any other current Bundesliga side. Bielefeld’s last Bundesliga win over Borussia dates back to March 2003 (4-1 H). Since then, DSC have picked up just two points from the next nine meetings in the top flight.
  • Bielefeld have only won once in 15 trips to Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga. That victory was their first match away to the Foals as they defeated Gladbach 2-0 on 13th February 1971 at the Bökelberg. Since then, they’ve drawn three matches and lost 11 times.
  • The reverse fixture was the opening match of 2021 for both sides. Breel Embolo scored the only goal of the game to secure a 1-0 away win for Borussia. Gladbach’s dominance that day was underlined by the fact that they had 14 corners – more than in any other game this season!

Statistics – presented by UNIBET

  • The loss at Hoffenheim was Gladbach’s sixth defeat in the second half of the season – already twice as many as they suffered in the first half of the campaign (3).
  • Borussia blew a lead for the 11th time this season in the defeat at Hoffenheim (D7, L4) – this is a league high and a joint negative club record (previously happened in the 1966/67 season).
  • Only three teams have scored more than Gladbach’s 54 league goals this season (Bayern, Frankfurt and Dortmund).
  • Borussia have scored a league-high 21 goals from set pieces this season.
  • Arminia Bielefeld are on a four-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga (W2, D2), which is their longest streak of the season. They picked up an important 1-0 win over Schalke in midweek, although they haven’t recorded back-to-back victories yet this term.
  • Bielefeld now have a positive record under new head coach Frank Kramer (W3, D3, L2).
  • Arminia have kept three consecutive clean sheets, which is the longest ongoing run in the division. In eight games under Frank Kramer, Bielefeld have let in just five goals.

Officials

  • The DFB will confirm the officials on the day of the match, due to the Coronavirus measures in place.
