Borussia beaten by Paderborn in second pre-season friendly

The Foals were beaten 3-1 by SC Paderborn 07 in their second pre-season friendly of 2021/22. U23s player Conor Noß scored Borussia’s only goal shortly after his introduction in the second half.

Before Gladbach head to their week-long training camp in Harsewinkel-Marienfeld, a friendly against SC Paderborn awaited the Foals on Saturday afternoon in the Benteler-Arena. The Bundesliga 2 side, who return to competitive action next weekend, took the lead inside quarter of an hour, with Uwe Hünemeier firing into the far corner after a cross from the left had deceived everyone else (14’). Borussia were the team in control of possession, but there weren’t many gaps appearing for Adi Hütter’s side in the first half.

Paderborn demonstrated more clinical finishing in the second half as Jannik Heuer made it 2-0 with a powerful strike in the 54th minute. The Foals hit back only four minutes later though when Conor Noß found the back of the net with a long-range strike moments after coming off the bench. The deficit wasn’t halved for long, however, with Dennis Srbeny restoring Paderborn’s two-goal advantage in the 61st minute to earn them a 3-1 friendly victory.
