Borussia’s presidential board re-elected

During a meeting of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s supervisory board yesterday afternoon, the presidential board - consisting of club president Rolf Königs, vice presidents Siegfried Söllner and Rainer Bonhof, and board member Hans Meyer - was re-elected.

The election for club president, held on a regular basis, was conducted within the deadline set out in the club constitution. The election of further presidential-board members followed based upon suggestions from president Rolf Königs. The elected presidential board is now in place for a three-year period.

“The success story that Borussia has been writing ever since moving into BORUSSIA-PARK has been continued in recent years. The club has grown sustainably and has been brilliantly set up for the future both on the pitch and economically, something that can’t be overstated enough given the restrictions put in place during the coronavirus pandemic and the financial losses that have come with it. The presidential board and the management, particularly Stephan Schippers and Max Eberl, have made the right decisions for our club during this difficult time. We in the supervisory board are very pleased with that progress,” said chairman of the supervisory board Prof. Dr. Reiner Körfer.

“We’re delighted to have the backing of the supervisory board,” said president Rolf Königs. “They too play a big part in Borussia’s healthy position even in these difficult times thanks to their level-headed and long-sighted approach. My sincerest thanks go to them on behalf of the presidential board, but also to my fellow presidential-board members and managing directors Stephan Schippers and Max Eberl, as well as all of the Borussia staff who have played a part in our successful development and continue to do so.”

Rolf Königs has been Borussia Mönchengladbach president since 2004 and, like Siegfried Söllner, has been on the presidential board since February 1999. Rainer Bonhof became vice president in 2009, with Hans Meyer joining the board in 2011.
