1-0 win for Borussia in friendly against Metz

The Foals won their third pre-season friendly, beating Metz 1-0 thanks to a late goal form Conor Noß.

After having returned from training camp in Klosterpforte in Harsewinkel-Marienfeld yesterday, the Foals took part in their third pre-season friendly on Saturday against French first-division side Metz. Borussia took control of the game early on, but were unable to create any chances for themselves. Fifteen minutes in, Alassane Plea went down injured after a challenge from Kouyaté Kiki. Both players had to be subbed off, with Mika Schroers replacing Plea. The Foals continued to press, but the score remained deadlocked going into the second half.

Head coach Adi Hütter made 10 changes to his side following the change of ends, with Schroers the only exception. Metz looked threatening after the break, and put Borussia's backline under pressure but were unable to force a goal. With three minutes left to play, Conor Noß nutmegged Metz goalkeeper Oukidja from close range to win the game for the Foals.

Line-up

Jonas Kersken started in goal for the third friendly of pre-season. During the first half, Stefan Lainer, Tony Jantschke, Jordan Beyer and Joe Scally all started in defence. Christoph Kramer lined up in central midfield, behind László Bénes and Hannes Wolf. Patrick Herrmann, Alassane Plea and Keanan Bennetts started up front.

Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria (all Switzerland), Matthias Ginter, Florian Neuhaus, Jonas Hofmann (all Germany) and Marcus Thuram (France) will all only return to training in the upcoming week after having competed at this summer's EUROs. Head coach Adi Hütter called up Per Lockl, Michael Wentzel, Mika Schroers, Conor Noß, Luiz Skraback and Michel Lieder from the U23s for the match, with Moustafa Moustafa and Yvandro Borges Sanches involved from the U19s.
