Reitz joins St. Truiden on loan

Borussia midfielder Rocco Reitz will spend a year on loan at Belgian top-flight side VV St. Truiden in order to get match practice.

The 19-year-old – under contract at Borussia until 2024 – is being loaned out to the side currently sixth in the Jupiler Pro League in order to gain more match practice. "Rocco is a home grown talent who we really believe in. Given the high level of competition in the squad at defensive midfield, he would probably only get limited game time at Borussia. At his age, however, it is important to play regularly. For this reason, we have decided to loan him out to Belgium, where he will have the opportunity to prove himself in a good league," said sporting director Max Eberl.

Reitz first joined Borussia as a seven-year-old and has since played his way through all of the academy teams. Last season, the midfielder was named in the Foals’ first team squad on several occasions and made his debut on 24th October 2020 away to Mainz. In the second half of the season, a tough pubic bone break kept him out of action for several weeks, meaning he could only make one more cameo appearance with the pros, plus six for the U23s.
