Borussia undergo performance tests

The Foals will have two days of obligatory health and performance diagnostic tests at Medical Park to kick off pre-season. The tests are the first thing in store as the summer break draws to a close.

Running, sprinting, jumping and working hard: a total of 22 players underwent a physiotherapeutic examination, a running analysis, sports motor tests, an eye test as well as orthopaedic, neurological and other examinations.

From the first team squad, goalkeepers Tobias Sippel, Moritz Nicolas and Jan Olschowsky, loan returnees Andreas Poulsen, Rocco Reitz, Torben Müsel and Famana Quizera, joined Marvin Friedrich, Mamadou Doucouré, Luca Netz, Tony Jantschke, Jordan Beyer, Christoph Kramer, Conor Noß, Florian Neuhaus, Patrick Herrmann, Alassane Plea, Lars Stindl, Marcus Thuram and Jacob Italiano were present.

The second part of the medical checks will take place tomorrow, with an ankle strength test and spiroergometry on the schedule, in which the respiratory gases are measured during physical activity. The examinations will give Borussia's medical department a picture of the condition of the players upon returning from their summer break. The numerous data collected will also provide new head coach Daniel Farke and his coaching team with important insights for planning training in the upcoming weeks. Borussia’s first training session of the season will take place on Sunday (12:15 CEST) at the FohlenPlatz.

Alassane Plea undergoes the obligatory eye test.
