Borussia draw 1-1 with Waalwijk

Borussia came away from Velbert with a 1-1 draw against Dutch side Waalwijk in the penultimate friendly game of the pre-season.

It was a lively first half at the IMS Arena in Velbert, where 1,100 fans were in attendance. Borussia were the better side in the opening stages and Alassane Plea hit the post with just a few minutes on the clock. The visitors, however, took the lead with their first opportunity, when Daneels found the net in the 19th minute. It didn’t take the Foals long to respond, with Plea netting the equaliser with half an hour gone. It was a cagier affair after the break, with little action in front of goal. Captain Lars Stindl missed a glorious opportunity to give the Foals the lead in the 53rd minute, when he fired his penalty over the bar..
