Five players missing at the start of the final training week

On Wednesday afternoon, the Foals began their last week of training this season, in which Daniel Farke was without five players.

The 2022/23 Bundesliga season is nearly over. Borussia will finish their season with the home game on Saturday afternoon (15:30 CEST) against FC Augsburg and will end up in either 10th or 11th place in the table. “There is still a lot at stake for us, and we would like to finish in 10th. One the one hand, it would mean more TV revenue but on the other, we’d be ending the season on a positive note,” stressed Borussia’s vice president Rainer Bonhof in an interview.

Of course, the focus on Saturday will also be on Ramy Bensebaini, Marcus Thuram and especially Lars Stindl, who will all be leaving Borussia at the end of the season and would definitely like to say goodbye to the fans with a home win. “I’m really looking forward to playing another Bundesliga game at BORUSSIA-PARK with the boys. I’m trying to approach it with as little emotion as possible, even though I know that it will be emotional,” said Stindl.

Weigl, Koné and Kramer absent due to injury

On Wednesday afternoon, the Foals began their preparations for the clash with Augsburg, who need one more point to ensure that they will definitely remain in the league. Head coach Daniel Farke was without five players at the start of training. Julian Weigl (left leg), Manu Koné (thigh) and Christoph Kramer (also thigh) were all injured for the away match last Sunday in Lerverkusen (2-2). Joe Scally was also out ill. Goalkeeper Jonas Omlin (muscular problems) continued to train individually.

The only other public training session is on Thursday morning, with the final session taking place behind closed doors on Friday morning. After the home game against FC Augsburg, the Bundesliga season will come to an end, but the Foals will not go straight into the summer break. Starting on Monday 29th May, they will embark on their end-of-season tour, with two friendly matches against FC Oberneuland and FC Halleschen, a visit to the Bergen-Belsen memorial and a fan meeting in Aken on the agenda.
