Club statement regarding Lucien Favre’s future

On Sunday Lucien Favre informed Borussia that he would like to resign from his post as Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach with immediate effect.

During these discussions with Lucien Favre, the club explained that they were still fully behind him and results hadn’t altered our views on his stewardship. “As before, we remained certain that Lucien was the right man for the job and that we’d be able to overcome the difficult situation we face on the park with him in charge,” said Max Eberl. “We had hoped that we would be able to overcome this episode together, but his decision to make his resignation public knowledge has resulted in the creation of a situation which hurts us. We worked together with Lucien Favre for four and a half wonderfully successful years and are sad that things have ended like this,” explained Borussia President Rolf Königs.

Further details will be made public by Borussia Mönchengladbach tomorrow.
