Borussia record convincing 4-1 win over Werder Bremen

Borussia record convincing 4-1 win over Werder Bremen
Thorgan Hazard and Fabian Johnson celebrate the Belgian's first goal of the night.

André Schubert’s side were dominant throughout as they secured a comfortable win on matchday three of the Bundesliga. Thorgan Hazard opened the floodgates for the Fohlenelf in the 11th minute.

In front of a 54,014 sell-out crowd at Borussia Park, the Fohlenelf were rampant from the start and left no doubt that they would leave victorious. Thorgan Hazard fired Borussia into a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute and it took him just another six minutes for him to register his second. Raffael also found the net twice in the first half, with his first goal coming from the spot. Borussia then looked to control the tempo of the game in the second half.

Starting line-up

Head coach André Schubert made five changes to the side that lost 4-0 to Manchester City on Wednesday evening. Alongside Ibrahima Traoré and Thorgan Hazard, Julian Korb, Jannik Vestergaard and Tony Jantschke started for the Fohlenelf, forming the back-three in front of goalkeeper Yann Sommer. Andreas Christensen and Christoph Kramer occupied central midfield, with Ibrahima Traoré and Fabian Johnson playing out wide. Lars Stindl, Raffael and Thorgan Hazard formed a three-man attack.

Injuries

André Schubert had to do without the injured Patrick Herrmann (torn abductor), Mamadou Doucouré (just returning from a muscle tear), Alvaro Dominguez (back problem) and Josip Drmic (rehab from cartilage damage).
