Thorgan Hazard has successfully defended his title and been voted Borussia’s Player of the Month for the second time in a row. The Belgian beat Raffael and Jannik Vestergaard to the title.
Almost 4,000 Borussia fans voted in the last seven days and the final result was clear. With 69% of votes, Hazard was the clear winner ahead of Jannik Vestergaard (17%) and Raffael (14%) in second and third place respectively.
The Belgium international qualified for contention for the award by being voted Man of the Match in the game against Bayern Munich. In the final game of November, the 24-year-old converted a penalty against the record champions in a 2-1 victory. The goal was his fourth successful penalty this season and his total of five goals means he leads Borussia’s goalscoring charts this season. Also, the goal against the reigning champions helped keep Thorgan’s run of being involved in at least one goal in ten consecutive Bundesliga games (as well as the DFB-Pokal tie with Fortuna Düsseldorf) going, which is a new club record.
Hazard also won the Player of the Month award in October with Michael Cuisance and Denis Zakaria taking the award in September and October respectively.
