The full first team squad completed a training session despite stormy conditions on Wednesday morning as preparation for the restart of the Bundesliga season.
Storm ‘Burglind’ raged through BORUSSIA-PARK on Wednesday morning, but the Fohlenelf still completed their 90-minute training session in spite of the treacherous conditions. “We cannot let our schedule and preparations be affected by the weather,” said Patrick Herrmann. Yesterday, the Borussia squad was split into two groups. Today, the whole squad trained together on the pitch. “We have just ten days to prepare and improve for the second half of the season. We have to be ready to face Köln,” said Oscar Wendt, excited about the return of the Bundesliga. “I always play better after the winter break. I hope I can develop myself as a player even further this year.”
Kramer set to return to team training soon
No changes have been made to the squad available to train since yesterday. Ibrahima Traoré (torn muscle), Fabian Johnson (back problems), László Bénes (broken foot), Mamadou Doucouré (torn muscle) and Tobias Strobl (cruciate ligament rupture) are all still unavailable. Raffael and László Bénes are training individually with rehabilitation coach Andreas Bluhm, whilst Tobias Strobl and Christoph Kramer are completing individual exercises. The latter two are due to return to team training in the next few days. “I am not in any pain anymore, but I will have to get used to playing with the ball again,” said Kramer.
The Fohlenelf will train twice on both Thursday and Friday at 10:00 and 15:30 CET and once on Saturday at 15:00 CET before facing 1. FSV Mainz 05 at 15:30 CET on Sunday.
