The Fohlenelf had two training sessions on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s home game against RB Leipzig (18:30 CET). Raul Bobadilla took part in both of the first team’s sessions.
Before the first training session of the week, the frustrating away loss at Eintracht Frankfurt (0-2) on Friday evening was discussed using video analysis. But now the Fohlenelf are focusing on the next tough task ahead of them which is the home game against Leipzig.
Villalba suffers hamstring tear
It still is not 100% clear which players head coach Dieter Hecking will be able to choose from at the weekend with some looking to prove their fitness ahead of the match at BORUSSIA-PARK. Yann Sommer (groin) and Oscar Wendt (hamstring), who were both forced off with injury on Friday, both didn’t train today whilst Raffael also had to sit out with a stiff calf muscle, the same injury which caused him to miss the Frankfurt match. Borussia will definitely have to do without Julio Villalba, as well as the five long-term absentees, in the coming weeks after he tore his left hamstring.
Bobadilla “feels good”
But there was also good news from the training pitches – Raul Bobadilla, who has been out in recent weeks with a pelvic injury, returned to first team training. “I feel good again but I still need a bit of time to get back to full fitness after the time I’ve been out,” the attacker said, who last made an appearance for Gladbach in the middle of December against Freiburg. Bobadilla was on the fence as to whether he would be a possibility for the matchday squad on Saturday, “I’d love to be back in the team but that’s up to the boss. It would probably make more sense to wait another week.”
Five more sessions
The Fohlenelf have five more training sessions before the home game against RB Leipzig – once more on Tuesday (15:30 CET) before one on Wednesday (10 CET) and two on Thursday (10 CET and 15:30 CET). The final training session on Friday will take place behind closed doors.
