Die Fohlen’s winter training camp in Jerez properly began on Sunday, with two training sessions taking place. The first friendly will take place on Monday (15:00 CET).
After a light jog yesterday afternoon, the Borussia players had two intensive training sessions ahead of them on Sunday – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. After a 20-minute warm-up, the players completed drills, which focused mainly on their build-up play, before they finished the morning session with an 11-a-side game. Florian Neuhaus’ long-range goal was the highlight of the session.
Michaël Cuisance and Alassane Plea both returned to the training after their stomach problems, although Plea finished training slightly earlier than his teammates. Lars Stindl, Christoph Kramer and Julio Villalba all warmed up together with the squad, before completing their own individual training sessions as part of their comebacks from injury.
The three players will not be available for tomorrow’s friendly, but Matthias Ginter, who hasn’t played since fracturing his eye socket against Hannover at the end of November, will be involved. He will still be wearing a face mask and can finally play and train without it on Wednesday. “It’s healed really well – I’m not in any pain now and can’t to get back out on the pitch tomorrow,” said Ginter.
There are two more sessions for Die Fohlen before the friendly: today at 16:30 CET and tomorrow at 10:00 CET.
