On Friday evening, László Bénes represented the Slovakian first team for the second time as they defeated Jordan 5-1, while one more Foal will be in action today in a EURO 2020 qualification match.
Slovakia’s warm-up game ahead of their EURO 2020 qualification matches was a successful one, with Gladbach’s László Bénes, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Holstein Kiel, helping his nation to a convincing 5-1 victory. Although the Slovakians were the better side from the first minute, it was the hosts who took the lead through Musa Al-Taamari and held the advantage at half time. However, Slovakia levelled the game with a strike from Lukas Haraslín (49’) before Martin Chrien put his side ahead four minutes later. Gladbach’s Bénes came into the game in the 60th minute to record his second cap for the first team. The 21 year old was involved in a number of attacking moves from central midfield and recorded an assist with a great pass to Jaroslav Mihalik, who finished to score Slovakia’s fifth and final goal of the game. Prior to that, Jan Gregus had scored from the spot (71’), whilst Samuel Mraz also got on the scoresheet (74’) in a one-sided affair.
Bénes and his teammates will now travel to Azerbaijan for their EURO2020 qualification game on Tuesday 11th June (kickoff 18:00 CEST). Slovakia have claimed three points so far from their previous two qualification games, defeating Hungary 2-0 at home and narrowly losing 1-0 in Wales.
Guinea lose to Gambia
