An intensive session on Saturday morning brought the opening week of pre-season training to a close ahead of Borussia’s 19/20 season.
Head coach Marco Rose and his coaching team put his new team through their paces in the first week of pre-season training. After a warm up, Saturday’s schedule was focused on passing drills and build-up play. For Borussia’s players, it marked the end of a tiring week. The team have already completed nine training sessions under Marco Rose since the start of training last Sunday. “The training is really fun,” said Cristoph Kramer.
Several internationals return
The majority of Borussia’s international players returned to training on Friday, after being given an extended break after representing their countries at the end of the previous campaign. Yann Sommer, Denis Zakaria, Nico Elvedi, Matthias Ginter and new addition Stefan Lainer are all back with the squad which is almost complete once again. “I am pleased to be back and I’m looking forward to the new season,” said Yann Sommer after returning from a summer break. Florian Neuhaus and Andreas Poulsen, who competed in the U21 European Championships, and Ibrahima Traoré, who is currently at the Africa Cup with Guinea, are yet to link up with the squad.
First friendly on Wednesday
The Foals will be able to rest on Sunday, as head coach Rose has given them a day off. The new training week will begin on Monday (10:00 CEST) with an athletics session. On Wednesday, Borussia will face 1. FC Mönchengladbach at the Rheydter Grenzlandstadion at 18:30 CEST, LIVE on Facebook and FohlenTV.
