In the final of the Schauinsland-Reisen Cup, the Foals were beaten by a score of 1-0 against fellow Bundesliga rivals, FC Augsburg.
In the final against Augsburg, the Foals were unable to utilise their superiority in the match and went down after the 13th minute thanks to a goal from Maurice Malone. After the 30-minute mark, Borussia had many opportunities, but weren’t able to use them to their advantage.
Yann Sommer was in goal for the final, accompanied by a back-four of Kaan Kurt, Christoph Kramer, Matthias Ginter and Andreas Poulsen. Denis Zakaria was deployed in the No. 6 role, while Aaron Herzog and Michaël Cuisance played in the No. 8 role. Keanan Bennetts was used on the right and Jacob Italiano on the left. Raffael played as a lone striker.
Coach Marco Rose had to do without Jordan Beyer (muscle problems) as well as Lars Stindl, Breel Embolo and Julio Villalba, who are all working on recovery. Stefan Lainer had previousöy contracted a small laceration on his shin, which had to be stitched up and so he was therefore dropped for the tournament. Ibrahima Traoré was also unavailable due to his participation in AFCON 2019 and will return to the team during the training camp.
