The Foals began their training week on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the derby on Saturday (15:30 CEST). Tobias Strobl returned after his recent injury issues.
Tobias Strobl returned to full training in the first session of the week ahead of the derby at 1. FC Köln on Saturday (15:30 CEST). “It was a good training session and I’m not in any pain anymore,” said Strobl, after he completed the full 90 minute session. Borussia’s midfield man picked up a knee problem before the Schalke game in mid-August and had been missing ever since. Alassane Plea, who recently had missed some sessions due to a calf issue, also trained with the rest of the team on Tuesday afternoon.
Matthias Ginter (Germany), Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo (all Switzerland), Stefan Lainer (Austria), László Bénes (Slovakia), Ramy Bensebaini (Algeria), Jordan Beyer (Germany U21s) und Andreas Poulsen (Denmark U21s) were all still away with their respective international sides. Jonas Hofmann and Torben Müsel (knee) and Lars Stindl (rehabilitation training) are yet to return also.
The Foals’ preparation for the game in Köln continues tomorrow morning with a gym session, before they return to the pitch for another training at 15:00 CET. The training workouts on Thursday and Friday will both take part behind closed doors.
