Borussia have lost Matthias Ginter and Stefan Lainer to injury after both had to be substituted off in the second half of the home game against Augsburg. Lainer had fallen onto the pitch after around an hour in a challenge with Ruben Vargas, while Ginter landed awkwardly on his shoulder after challenging for the ball in the air against Florian Niederlechner in the 81st minute. Their respective MRI scans today showed the true extent of their injuries: Ginter dislocated his shoulder and suffered ligament damage, while Stefan Lainer suffered a capsular ligament tear in his left ankle. Both players have already withdrawn from participating in their upcoming international matches with the Germany and Austria national teams respectively.
