Preparations for this weekend’s duel with Fortuna Düsseldorf began on Tuesday with a 90 minute training sessions for the Foals.
With the cancelled derby now put to the back of their minds, focus now turns to this coming Saturday for the Foals as they take on Fortuna Düsseldorf in Matchday 22’s Topspiel. To start preparations for the important game this weekend, coach Marco Rose took his team out onto the training pitch at BORUSSIA-Park for a session which lasted around 90 minutes. 25 players took part in training, including the three goalkeeper Yann Sommer, Tobias Sippel and Max Grün – as well as returnees Tony Jantschke and Christoph Kramer. Kramer has been out injured since the Leipzig game and Jantschke since the Rückrunde game against Schalke. Ramy Bensebaini trained individually after his muscle problems. “We hope to bring Ramy back into full team training at the end of this week, said Marco Rose.
There are still three intense training sessions left to complete before they take on Düsseldorf at the weekend. On Wednesday the team will take part in non-public training before their public session on Thursday. “We’re fully focused on the game against Düsseldorf and we’re going to try and grab all three points on Saturday,” said right back Stefan Lainer. “Düsseldorf have one or two good players and they’ve already shown us in the reverse fixture that they’re capable of causing us problems.”
