In the press conference before the Lower Rhine duel on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) at Fortuna Düsseldorf, head coach Marco Rose spoke about ...
...the personnel situation: After the derby against 1. FC Köln was cancelled due to the storm, Alassane Plea must now serve his suspension for the game in Düsseldorf. The striker received a red card in the away game at RB Leipzig. Fabian Johnson is basically fit, but didn't train today because we did a lot of shooting drills. That was just a precaution. Tony Jantschke has been back in team training since the beginning of this week and is definitely an option for Saturday. Everything looks positive with Christoph Kramer too, he scored goals again in training today. Ramy Bensebaini was back in team training today but will only play in Düsseldorf if we absolutely have to play him.
…Fortuna Düsseldorf: Düsseldorf have now played three competitive games under their new coach Uwe Rösler. Friedhelm Funkel had previously done a great job in Düsseldorf, on which Uwe Rösler is now building. He is currently trying to convey to the team that they should be more brave in all aspects of their play. We can expect Düsseldorf to try to press us high at home, win balls and get out quickly on the counter. You can see that they’re trying to be more brave with their formations too, and it seems to be working for them at the minute. They just can’t seem to maintain it for the full 90 as of yet. The most important thing for us will be reacting and adjusting quickly to whatever they throw at us, we know that from our last game against Düsseldorf. We have to try and replicate the good work we’ve been producing on the training pitch, during the match.
...the 2-1 win in the first game against Düsseldorf: From the reactions after the game you could see how important this victory was for us. Basically, it is always important to deliver positive results and collect points. Back then we were pretty much at the beginning of our journey this season and we were trying to find some form. After that we had a pretty good run. We started again in winter and the boys picked up where they left off. We want to continue working intensively on our game. We want to stay right up there towards the top of the table, which means that we’ll definitely be needing the three points on Saturday evening.
...the past away game in Leipzig: A football team always tries to be consistent. The Leipzig game was a good sign for us that we’re doing that. We decided just to go for it away in Leipzig and it seemed to work for us. We should therefore take as much as possible from the game in Leipzig into each of the upcoming away matches. We have to keep up this consistency.
…Marcus Thuram: We’re all really pleased with the way that Marcus is developing. He understands exactly how we want to play and it’s plain to see that the decision to bring him here was a good one. But I also think that there’s still so much more to come from him, his ceiling is so high and he still has room for improvement. At the moment he is in a phase in which not everything comes off so easily for him. However, it’s easy to forget that he is a very young player who has only been here for half a year. We will support him and do everything we can to ensure he continues to score goals for this club.
…Florian Neuhaus: Flo is a Germany Under-21 international. We know his qualities, we know what potential lies in him, and he keeps showing us again and again what he can do. He could be a special player, but he’s still young for now and he can still develop in many areas. We are currently working on doing just that with him. He is working on becoming even more tough in the fight, and overall he’s on the right track for sure. Flo had a decent first half of the season, but also had plenty of opportunities in games, where he should’ve done better. Above all, his skill and understanding of the game help us in every game and we’re glad that we have that at our disposal. He is in a good mood at the moment and he will certainly play on Saturday.
