The fans have spoken and selected Lars Stindl as February’s Player of the Month. The captain beat out Yann Sommer and Matthias Ginter to the award, which was sponsored by Cichon Management.
For the first time this season, Lars Stindl has picked up a Player of the Month award. The vote for the award, which is sponsored by Cichon Management, saw fans have the choice between the captain, Yann Sommer and Matthias Ginter. Stindl received nearly 69 per cent of the vote. Sommer, who picked up January’s Player of the Month award, received 24 per cent of the vote, while Matthias Ginter finished with seven per cent.
Man of the Match against both Düsseldorf and Augsburg
Stindl picked up two Man of the Match awards in February, impressing during both the match against Fortuna Düsseldorf (4-1) and against Augsburg (3-2). The 31-year-old showed he has a nose for goal in both matches. Stindl netted the opener shortly after the break against Fortuna, before adding a second in the 77th minute. Overall, 49.1 per cent of the fans voted for him as Man of the Match. Following the game against Augsburg, 65 per cent of the fans selected Stindl as their Man of the Match. Stindl assisted Ramy Bensebaini’s opening goal against Augsburg, before adding one himself just four minutes later. He then bagged a brace after scoring yet again in 79th minute to make it 3-1.
