DFB-Pokal: First round to be drawn on July 26th

Although not all participants have been announced yet, the draw for the first round of the DFB-Pokal will take place on Sunday July 26th.

Who will the Foals meet in the first round of the DFB-Pokal? They will find out on Sunday, July 26th, from 6pm CEST. In cooperation with broadcaster ARD, this date will be the one where the first round draw for the 2020/21 season takes place. The early draw date, before many of the participants have been confirmed, was chosen in order to allow amateur clubs more time for intense preparations for the matches. The special game rules in place for the first round mean all amateur clubs need to fulfil the hygiene recommendations for their respective games. The draw will be carried out with placeholders taking the role of the participants who have not been confirmed yet.

The first round of the 2020/21 DFB-Pokal will take place between the 11th and 14th of September, and will begin the German domestic football season. The second round is scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd of December, the Round of 16 is scheduled for the 2nd and 3rd of February 2021, and the quarterfinals are scheduled for the 2nd and 3rd of March 2021. The semi-finals are scheduled for the first weekend in May, but these dates are still subject to change. One thing is certain, however: The DFB-Pokal Final will take place on Thursday, 13th of May 2021 at the Berlin Olympiastadion, and, in exceptional circumstances, not after the end of league football. This is due to the later start to the season of the 2020/21 season.
