Stindl and Friedrich return to training

The Foals started their preparation for their home game against Hertha BSC this Saturday (18:30 CET) with a 90 minute session on Tuesday morning. Lars Stindl and Marvin Friedrich were partially involved.

The Foals have started their preparation for the upcoming match against Hertha BSC at BORUSSIA-PARK.

The first training session of the week lasted roughly 90 minutes and focused on multiple facets of the game. Amongst other things, the players took part in lots of mini two-on-two and three-on-three duels.

The training was led by assistant coach Christian Peintinger, due to the absence of Adi Hütter. Borussia’s head coach had to miss the session after returning an inconclusive result on a routine rapid COVID-19 test. The result of the PCR test has not yet come back. Assistant coach Frank Geideck has however returned a conclusive positive test and is now in self-isolation. Mamadou Doucouré (muscular problems), Tony Jantschke (knee problems) and Stefan Lainer (flu) had to miss the training session, but all three took part in individual training at BORUSSIA-PARK. “I expect that Stevie should be able to rejoin the team in the course of the week,” said Peintinger.

Lars Stindl and Marvin Friedrich were both able to partially take part in today’s team training. “Lars was able to get a feel for the ball again today after his MCL injury but didn’t contest any duels. Marvin took part for as long as he could after recovering from a stomach bug. I think that he can increase his participation over the course of the week.”

Friedrich and Co. have two private training sessions planned for tomorrow (Wednesday). Friday’s session, the last before the game against Hertha, will also take place behind closed doors. The last public training session before Saturday’s clash will be on Thursday at 10:30 CET. “All in all, it is important to work on the things we did badly against Stuttgart over the course of the week, so we can give ourselves the best possible chance of getting a result against Hertha,” asserted Peintinger.
