#BMGFCU: Match Facts

All of the key facts and figures ahead of Gladbach’s game against Union Berlin on Sunday (15:30 CEST).

HEAD-TO-HEAD

  • Sunday’s match will be the Foals’ tenth against Union in the Bundesliga. Gladbach have won one of those games (4-1 in May 2020), with the capital club coming out on top on six occasions and drawing twice.
  • Union have won their last five league games against Gladbach, a feat they have only otherwise managed against Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig. The Berliners have never won six games in a row against a single team.

STATISTICS

  • Borussia have scored 53 league goals so far this season, a metric in which they trail only the league’s top five. They have, however, conceded 60 – only Darmstadt have a worse defensive record.
  • The Foals have the best chance conversion in the league this season, while Robin Hack has the best chance conversion rate of any Bundesliga player this calendar year. Hack has already scored eight league goals in 2024.
  • Hack’s hat-trick at Hoffenheim saw him leapfrog Alassane Plea to become Gladbach’s top scorer for the season. The Frenchman has seven goals so far in the current campaign.
  • No Bundesliga side has had more success from corners than Gladbach this season – the Foals have twelve goals from corner kicks.
  • FCU are on a three-game losing streak, the first time they have lost three in a row under head coach Nenad Bjelica. Their current haul of 29 points after 30 games is their lowest tally since being promoted to the Bundesliga.
  • Union have lost all of their games against the league’s top five this season, but their record against teams from sixth place downwards is much stronger, with eight wins, five draws and seven defeats.

OFFICIALS

  • Sascha Stegemann is Sunday’s match referee, and he will be assisted by Christoph Günsch and Thorben Siewer. Patrick Schwengers will serve as fourth official. The video referees are Dr Felix Brych and Frederik Assmuth.
