Borussia prepare for fans‘ return to stadium

From the start of the new Bundesliga season, approximately 10,800 home fans will be allowed to attend the Foals’ home games at BORUSSIA-PARK as part of a six-week trial. Discussions were held on Wednesday (16/9) with local authorities to discuss how to implement fans’ return.

Before the 2020/21 Bundesliga season gets underway, states agreed on uniform rules for allowing fans to return to stadiums. This will begin as part of a six-week trial, when spectators can attend fixtures as long as certain rules are adhered to. The limit on attendance is 20% of the respective stadium’s capacity. That means that 10,804 fans will be able to attend the Foals’ home games until the end of October.

Discussions were held on Wednesday afternoon (16/9) between Borussia and the relevant authorities in Mönchengladbach. Talks with Mayor Hans Wilhelm Reiners as well as the health minister and local government office have focused on how to implement fans’ return. “We really welcome the politicians’ decision as well as the local authorities’ clearance. We’d like to thank everyone who’s been involved for placing their trust in us,” says Borussia’s CEO Stephan Schippers. Sporting director Max Eberl says: “We’re all so glad that fans can return to stadiums. Up until now, we’ve dealt with everything really well through the course of the Coronavirus pandemic. We hope and believe that this pilot will work.”
