Champions League group stage schedule released – Borussia open campaign at Inter

UEFA have confirmed the dates and timings for the Champions League group stage. Borussia will begin their European journey away at Inter Milan on Wednesday, 21st October (21:00 CEST).

During yesterday’s draw, the Foals found out their opponents for the 2020/21 Champions League group stage. Borussia were drawn against seven-time winners and record Spanish champions, Real Madrid; current Ukrainian champions and last year’s Europa League semi-finalists, Shakhtar Donetsk; and last year’s Serie A runners-up and Europa League finalists, Inter.

The upcoming Champions League matchdays will take place across two days for three consecutive weeks. The Foals will begin with an away game against Inter on Wednesday, 21st October (21:00 CEST). The following matchday, they will face Real Madrid on Tuesday, 27th October (21:00 CET). Matchday 3 will see Borussia travel to face Shakhtar on Tuesday, 3rd November (18:55 CET).

Then, the Foals play at home against Shakhtar on Wednesday, 25th November (18:55 CET). On matchday 5, Borussia will host Inter at BORUSSIA-PARK on Tuesday, 1st December (21:00 CET). The team will close out the group stage away at Real Madrid on Wednesday, 9th December (21:00 CET).

UEFA’s executive committee has decided to allow a limited number of fans to attend UEFA matches, as long as it is permitted by the local authorities. In Borussia’s case, the health authority, the municipal regulatory agency and the city of Mönchengladbach will determine whether or not fans will be permitted to attend Champions League matches. Clubs will be permitted to open their stadiums at 30 per cent of the maximum capacity, with away fans not being permitted to attend, as things stand.
