Bensebaini gives Algeria the win

Ramy Bensebaini scored the winning goal during Friday night’s friendly between Algeria and Nigeria. Elsewhere, Hannes Wolf started for the Austria U21s in Kosovo.

Gladbach’s Ramy Bensebaini was named in Algeria’s starting XI for their friendly against Nigeria, which was played in Sankt Veit an der Glan in the Austrian region of Carinthia (photo: imago). After just six minutes, the Borussia left-back was celebrating the opening goal – his fourth in national team colours.

Austria U21

Hopes of reaching the 2021 European Championship are still very-much alive for the Austria U21s after an important 1-0 win away to Kosovo, with Hannes Wolf featuring in the starting XI. Head coach Werner Gregoritsch’s side found things difficult to begin with, increasing the pressure considerably in the second half. Three minutes from full time, they scored the winner through Marco Grüll. The Austrian youngsters remain at second place in their qualifying group, now on 15 points. England still lead the group with 19, while Albania trail in third on eleven points.

Walde into next round of EURO qualifying with Germany youngsters

Simon Walde’s Germany U19 side are through to the second round of European Championship qualification. The Borussia defender played the full 90 minutes of the concluding 3-3 draw in Poland. Joe Scally (USA) and Ko Itakura (Japan) both celebrated friendly victories, while Grant-Leon Ranos’ Armenia suffered defeat to North Macedonia.
