Neuhaus: I’m really enjoying my football at the moment

Following the 4-1 home victory against FC Schalke, Florian Neuhaus discussed the match, his great run of form, and the upcoming Champions League clash with Inter Milan.

Florian Neuhaus on…

…the home win against Schalke: It was a vitally important win for us. We can talk about the way the game developed in terms of phases, as I think there’s definitely still room for improvement. We didn’t start at our best but we still managed to take the lead. However, we didn’t really have the game under control at that point. In the end though, what’s important is that we win games like these, and we succeeded in that goal so we can be satisfied with that.

…the shaky start to the game: We didn’t play very well in the first 30 minutes, but a couple of days after a Champions League match, that can happen. Schalke started the game very well in addition to this. They adapted to us very well, but we took that in our stride and deserved our win in the end.

…his current great run of form: I play in a very good team here at Borussia so I’m really enjoying my football at the moment. We’re playing very attractive football that’s bringing us a lot of success. And when you’re in a good run of form, things tend to go your way like yesterday when three opponents were on the line, but the ball still found its way into the back of the net.

…his increased goal output: Before the season began, I resolved to become more dangerous in front of goal and to get forward into the box more often, so that I’m there to take advantage of loose balls. That happened against Shakhtar Donetsk and again against Schalke yesterday. I’m always very happy when I can help the team with goals and assists.

…his teammates in midfield: Denis Zakaria and Christoph Kramer are two different types of player. Chris is more of a tactician who can keep the ball well, whereas Denis brings a completely different dynamic to our game. I’m very happy that he’s back after his long period out with injury. It gives us another facet to our game. We’ve got a lot of games at the moment so it’s important that we’re able to rotate the central midfielders around.

…the Champions League: The games in the Champions League are real highlights for us and you can see that from our good performances in the group stages so far. Now we’ve got the opportunity to make the round of sixteen at BORUSSIA-PARK against Inter Milan on Tuesday. That’s our current focus.
