"A great moment for us" - Real Madrid match reaction

Despite a 2-0 defeat in the final group game at Real Madrid, the Foals were jubilant in Madrid.

Christoph Kramer: We are just so happy. There were so many emotions going through our heads when we were still hoping that the other game would finish 0-0. There was a lot of time added on in the match between Inter and Shakhtar. Once it finished, we simply lost control of our emotions. It was a great moment for us a team. Overall, I think we have to admit that we had no chance against Real Madrid tonight. We didn’t enjoy much of the ball and this is always problematic against Real, as they move the ball around so well. We weren’t there and always seemed to be one step behind them. We need to work on these things but we can take a lot of positives from the group stage. I think we gave a good account of ourselves overall in a really tough group, both performance and result wise.

Marco Rose: It was a tough evening for us tonight, because we were taught a lesson by a strong Real Madrid side. They afforded us little space on the pitch and we deservedly lost. I barely kept track of the other scoreline during our game, which made the joy even greater when we found out we were through. We took points against every team in this difficult group and have deservedly reached the last 16. I’m proud of the team and I’m pleased that we’ve achieved this for the club and the fans.
