“We always believed” - Frankfurt match reaction

We gathered the reaction from the players and coaches after Borussia's 3-3 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday evening.

Christoph Kramer: We always believed we could come back and get a draw. We changed things up a bit at half time because the pitch wasn’t in a condition to play football on. Frankfurt pressed us man-to-man and we were chasing the game. We had to throw everything at it, but we got the equaliser in the end. It’s very frustrating that Frankfurt’s second goal stood; it was an incorrect decision as the ball was still rolling for their free-kick. A goal like that has a massive influence on the game. It isn’t an excuse though – we still should have stopped the goal. You could see today that we still have energy despite the schedule and can push late on. We earned a point in Frankfurt today. Now we have two more games to go before we can have a short break.

Yann Sommer: We lost control of the game after their equaliser. We were stunned by their two quick goals to go 3-1 up. We should have done better when we had the lead. The pitch conditions were difficult for both teams. There were a lot of long balls and 50-50s. Both teams battled for a point though. Lars Stindl scored some great and above all important goals. We never gave up, even though it wasn’t easy mentally to chase the lead for so long. It was a great team performance.

Marco Rose: Anything is possible in football and it’s important to always keep believing until the final whistle. We did that brilliantly today and that’s why we got a point. We actually started well and took an early lead, but we somehow ended up going 3-1 down. After David Abraham’s red card, the lads threw everything at it and ended up getting their reward. Considering the run of games we’ve had, that was a superb performance from the boys at the end there.

Frankfurt head coach Adi Hütter: It feels more like a defeat than a 3-3 draw, but at least it’s still a point. We can only blame ourselves for their two goals at the end, but it was a wonderful performance from us aside from the opening ten minutes. The way the boys played gives me confidence that we will start winning again soon, even though it’s already time we rewarded ourselves after nine games without a victory. It’s a pleasure to see the boys fight for each other, how they work as a unit and the mentality they showed. I’m convinced that we would have won If David Abraham had been on the pitch; he played superbly and saw two yellow cards for two fouls.
