Facts and stats ahead of #ELVBMG

Everything you need to know ahead of Borussia’s trip to the Ursapharm-Arena to take on SV Elversberg in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday evening (kick-off: 20:45 CET).

Fans

  • Due to the measures introduced by the German government to combat the spread of the coronavirus, all professional sport is currently taking place behind closed doors.
  • Current regulation also states that restaurants and other gastronomic establishments should not be open for business. Therefore, the FohlenSportsbar will remain closed until at least 10th January.

Head-to-head record

  • Tuesday night will be the first time that SV Elversberg and Borussia face each other in a competitive fixture.
  • The two sides met in a friendly in May 2014, with Borussia coming out on top in a 4-1 win.
  • Elversberg have however faced Borussia II eight times in the Regionalliga, winning on three occasions. Borussia’s second team have also claimed three victories, with two games ending in a draw.

Statistics

  • Gladbach have won the DFB-Pokal three times, most recently in 1995. The Foals have also reached the final on two other occasions.
  • Last season, the Foals were knocked out in the second round after losing 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund.
  • In the first round of the current season’s Pokal, Borussia defeated fourth-tier side FC Oberneuland 8-0 to book their place in the second round. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the two sides agreed to hold the game at BORUSSIA-PARK.
  • SV Elversberg are taking part in the DFB-Pokal for the seventh time in the club’s history.
  • Elversberg defeated second-division side FC St. Pauli 4-2 to reach this season’s second round. SVE have previously reached this stage three times in the past (1979, 1981 and 2010.)

Referee

  • Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the DFB won’t decide on the referee for the game until closer to kick-off.
