Following his call-up to Slovakia’s squad for UEFA EURO 2020, he is naturally hoping to make his first appearance at a major tournament for his country. “It would be a huge dream come true for me,” said the 23-year-old, who has made five appearances for Slovakia so far in his career.

Slovakia face Poland in St. Petersburg on Monday evening at 18:00 CEST in their first match of the EUROs. “Poland have a good team and an absolutely world-class striker in Robert Lewandowski. Nevertheless, I’m confident that we have a good chance of picking up points against them,” said Bénes. Group E is completed by Spain and Sweden, who face each other later on Monday evening in Seville at 21:00 CEST.
