Stindl: “Feeling good ahead of the new season”

Following Borussia’s first pre-season training session on Saturday morning, Lars Stindl answered questions from the media. Hear from our captain on…

…the fans in the stadium: Even if it there were only a small number of fans here today, it still felt great to play and train in front of fans again. Even at the European Championship that’s on right now, you can see what a difference it makes to have spectators in attendance. The atmosphere completely changes and it’s a lot more emotional. That’s why we’re also hoping for as many fans as possible to be allowed back in time for our season opener.

…first impressions of head coach Adi Hütter: The first impression has been very positive. He came across as a very likable guy during his time in Frankfurt and in interviews, which is exactly how he is here. I spoke with him on the phone during the summer break. We will likely hold more discussions over the next weeks in order to get to know each other better.

…Adi Hütter’s potential preferred style of play: Based on his past jobs and our initial talks, you can infer what kind of football he will want us to play and what his general approach will be. I’m convinced that his style will fit well to our team. Of course, we will only start to focus on the details in the coming weeks. I’m expecting training camp to be very intense, because that’s when we will be working on those final touches.

…looking forward to the new season: I’m very excited for the new season. It was great fun to see the lads again and to be back on the pitch together. Of course pre-season isn’t all fun, but I still look forward to it. We have a very good team and excellent surroundings, which is why we’re feeling good going into the new season with high ambitions once again.

…the season opener against FC Bayern: It’s a huge game to open the Bundesliga season. Getting to open the season against such an opponent on a Friday night at home is something special. It would be great if BORUSSIA-PARK could be filled with fans by then, in order to experience a really special atmosphere once again.

…impressions from the EUROs: Spain have shown that you can be successful if your passing game and positioning is right. On the other hand, some teams have proven that passion and a strong team spirit can also take you far. It goes to show that a strong team spirit can sometimes beat individual quality.

Stindl: "It felt great to play and train in front of fans again."
Stindl: "I’m very excited for the new season."
