Lainer arrives at training camp – rest for Stindl

While Adi Hütter led his team through another tactical training session on Tuesday afternoon, practising different formations, Stefan Lainer became the next Euro 2020 player to arrive at the training camp.

Stefan Lainer joined the training camp in Harsewinkel-Marienfeld well-rested and in good spirits. The 28 year old joined the second training session of the day after already having been greeted by a few teammates and of course Adi Hütter. Lainer is the second international player after László Bénes to join the rest of the team after taking part in Euro 2020. Lainer reached the round of 16 with the Austria team, in which they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by to-be European champions Italy.

A tactical training session was the order of the day for the rest of the Foals. After some simple exercises in small groups, Adi Hütter let the team play on a full pitch, as he also did on Monday. The Borussia coach again put lots of emphasis on aspects like pressing and tactics during switches in possession: a focus which will be reinforced in the training camp and over the next few weeks. “It takes a certain amount of time to implement new ideas in a team,” Hütter explained yesterday.

Lars Stindl was nowhere to be seen on the pitch in the afternoon. The 32 year old, who will be captain in the upcoming season according to Hütter, was given a rest.
