Stindl out of action with knee ligament strain

The Foals will be without Lars Stindl for the remainder of their time at the Harsewinkel-Marienfeld training camp, after the captain sustained a knee ligament strain.  

Lars Stindl, who will continue to captain Borussia during the 2021/22 season, has strained a ligament in his knee, as diagnosed following an MRI scan on Tuesday. The 32-year-old will therefore be sitting out the team training sessions at the camp in Harsewinkel-Marienfeld. Stindl will also miss this Saturday’s friendly against FC Metz, but will start returning to normal training over the course of the following week.

Zakaria the only Foal awarded a start by new head coach Yakin

Switzerland beat Greece 2-1 in a friendly match which was also new head coach Murat Yakin’s first game in charge of the team. The only Borussia Mönchengladbach player in the starting line-up was Dennis Zakaria.

Seven foals called up for international duty

There are seven foals in action with their national teams over the next few days, in friendlies and qualification games. Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi and Denis Zakaria (Switzerland) along with Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus (Germany) will be playing for new head coaches.
