Borussia sign Luca Netz from Hertha BSC

Borussia Mönchengladbach have completed the signing of Luca Netz from Hertha BSC. The left-back has agreed a five-year deal with the Foals running until 2026.

The 18-year-old full-back completed his medical at BORUSSIA-PARK on Thursday, before today signing a contract with the club until 2026. “Luca Netz is a very exciting player and someone we have had our eye on for a while,” said Borussia sporting director Max Eberl. “He is one of Germany’s most promising talents in his position and we’re delighted that he has opted to join Borussia Mönchengladbach.”

Born in Berlin, Luca Netz took his first footballing steps at FSV Bernau, before joining the Hertha youth academy as a seven-year-old in 2010. The left-back worked his way through the capital club’s youth teams and celebrated his Bundesliga debut in the Blue-Whites’ home game against Schalke 04 in January 2021. Netz went on to feature in ten of Hertha’s next 12 top-flight matches, although a metatarsal fracture ended his season early. He has since recovered and has been involved in the Berliners’ pre-season preparations.

Netz has also played two games for Germany’s U15s, as well as 21 for his country’s U17s team (5 goals).

Borussia’s latest signing will join his new teammates for training on Friday afternoon. The session will take place behind closed doors, however, as the Foals work on preparations for Monday’s DFB-Pokal first-round tie against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (20:45 CEST).

Luca Netz has signed a five-year deal with the Foals until 2026.
