Vote for Borussia's Player of the Month for August

Yann Sommer, Lars Stindl, Jonas Hofmann, Joe Scally and Stefan Lainer are up for August's Player of the Month award, presented by Cichon personalmanagement. Fans can vote for their winner on the FohlenApp.

Together with Cichon personalmanagement, we're looking for August's Player of the Month. The voting has changed slightly this year. In previous years, fans were limited to voting for players that had been voted the Man of the Match on at least one occasion during the respective month. This season, fans will also be able to vote for other players that impressed through their performances or on other levels. 

Borussia played four games in August, beginning with a win in the first round of the DFB-Pokal against Kaiserslautern (1-0). The Foals then opened the Bundesliga season with a draw against Bayern München (1-1), before suffering back-to-back defeats to Leverkusen (4-0) and Union Berlin (2-1). 

Lars Stindl (Kaiserslautern), Yann Sommer (Bayern, Leverkusen) and Jonas Hofmann (Union) each picked up the Man of the Match award in August. Stindl scored the winner against Kaiserslautern and set up Alassane Plea's opening goal against Bayern. Sommer kept the Foals in the game by making several key saves against Bayern, while preventing the scoreline against Leverkusen from climbing even higher. After two cameos in Kaiserslautern and Bayern, Hofmann returned to the starting line-up against Bayer 04. He was an active presence on the pitch against the Werkself and scored Borussia's only goal of the game. 

Eighteen-year-old Joe Scally not only made his competitive debut for the Foals last month, but also featured for the full 90 minutes in all four matches. He played at both right and left back, showcasing his versatility. Meanwhile, Lainer impressed at right-back against both Kaiserslautern and Bayern. He was taken off just before the break against Leverkusen with a broken ankle, and will thus be out of contention for the foreseeable future.
