Bensebaini returns to training for start of the new week

The Foals started their preparation for Saturday evening’s home game against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. Ramy Bensebaini took full part in the session for the first time since his groin injury.

Left-back Ramy Bensebaini has returned to Borussia’s training today. Around two weeks after sustaining the groin injury in a World Cup qualifier for his Algerian national team, the 26-year-old took part in his first full session this Tuesday morning at BORUSSIA-PARK. Due to muscular problems, Jonas Hofmann completed an individual session. “On Jonas, I hope that he can step back up into full training soon,” said head coach Adi Hütter. “Ramy and Jonas are both very important players for us, who both raise our game.” The Foals are still without Marcus Thuram (knee ligament), Stefan Lainer (broken ankle) and Mamadou Doucouré (rehab for Achilles tendon) for the foreseeable future.

For the remaining Foals, the next part of preparing for the game against Dortmund consists of an instense analysis. “We need to speak clearly and honestly with each other. We can’t allow ourselves to accept our current position or how we play,” emphasised Hütter. “We’ve just seen that having 63% possession means nothing at all. You lose when you’re careless, despite the amount of the ball you have. Perhaps we shouldn’t always be defining ourselves on the possession we have. We also have to compromise. I want to see the kind of football I have in my head, but we aren’t quite that far along yet. We still need to work a bit more on that.”

In a near-90 minute session on the pitch, Borussia’s head coach took a look at different game-plans and formations, amongst other things. “The team were very engaged in training today and took a few things on board. That’s the only way to do things,” said Hütter. Looking forward to Saturday evening’s home game against Dortmund (18:30 CEST), the head coach added “Of course there will be another calibre to our game than against Augsburg, but we need to show enthusiasm for it and get going back in the right direction.”
