11 Foals called up for international duty

The next international break of the season is just around the corner, with 11 Foals being called up to represent their respective national sides in October. Luca Netz has been called up by the Germany U21s for the first time.

Germany

Matthias Ginter, Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus have been called up by Germany head coach Hansi Flick for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Germany will face Romania and North Macedonia in Group J.

  • Monday, 11th October (20:45 CEST, in Skopje): North Macedonia – Germany (WCQ)

Switzerland 

Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo will be taking part in World Cup qualifiers with Switzerland, as they get set to face Northern Ireland and Lithuania in Group C action.

Algeria

Ramy Bensebaini will be away with Algeria, as they face Niger twice in qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

  • Tuesday, 12th October (21:00 CEST, in Niamey): Niger – Algeria (WCQ)

Germany U21s

New head coach Antonio Di Salvo has selected Luca Netz (Photo: imago images / Eibner) in his squad for their upcoming U21 EURO qualifiers against Israel and Hungary. Jordan Beyer, who made his debut for the side two years ago, has also been called up. 

  • Thursday, 7th October (18:15 CEST, in Paderborn): Germany U21 – Israel U21 (U21 EURO qualifier)
  • Tuesday, 12th October (17:30 CEST, in Szeged): Hungary U21 – Germany U21 (U21 EURO qualifier)

Ireland U21s

Conor Noß will be away with Ireland U21s, as they face Luxembourg and Montenegro in two qualifiers for the U21 EUROs. 

  • Friday, 8th October (18:15 CEST, in Dublin): Ireland U21 – Luxembourg U21 (U21 EURO qualifier)
  • Tuesday, 12th October (17:30 CEST, in Podgorica): Montenegro U21 – Ireland U21 (U21 EURO qualifier)

  • László Bénes (Slovakia), Hannes Wolf (Austria) and Alassane Plea (France) are all alternates.

Patrick Herrmann to retire from playing in the summer
